Much of the self-improvement industry and manifestation culture pedal forward the idea that there’s a utopia waiting for you. This utopia claims to have the perfect version of “you”, or the code to self-mastery, or the life and money of your dreams. But first, you need to obtain the “keys” ($$$) so you can unlock the “codes” (more $$$) for the grandiose, utopian life that is waiting.
The utopian dream comes straight out of the playbook of Prosperity Gospel and New Thought movements. In my 10+ years of devouring self-improvement, and spending thousands of dollars, I have found no utopias—to include no secret codes or magical keys to create a life of freedom and ease.
This doesn’t mean you can’t achieve your goals or have an ideal vision for your life. It also doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to improve or create a better life. What it DOES mean is that there’s no arriving point to your life. There’s no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. There’s no struggle-free life. Turn your back on those promises.
You will constantly have to remake and revision your life. You will have to alter and change paths many times. When you have one success, the next struggle is knocking on the door. This is a good thing. Having challenges and struggles build character and invites spice and variety to your life.
NO…Don’t believe in the bullshit of utopias, codes, and keys of the universe.
YES…Have an ideal vision for your life.
YES…Be flexible, adaptable, and willing to change that vision.
YES…Be lenient with getting results.
YES…Define the struggle that you’re willing to endure.

What if you could live forever?
Have you ever heard of the one year left to live exercise? The idea is to find purpose and what’s important to you. That approach has never worked for me. Instead, when I started thinking like an immortal being (kinda like a vampire), things became clearer.

Goal anxiety
We place too much emphasis on goals. Our goals cannot do the heavy lifting, they can only carry us so far. I recommend treating goals like sign posts. Reference them only when needed.

Having a deep connection to Life is real power
Real power is in connecting with that which cannot be measured. It’s integrating the qualitative side of life, trusting in the space between the lines, and growing our relationship with life.

What I’m reading
Do you really need a business coach? The author, Ash Riley, defines what a good business coach can do for you. Furthermore, she makes the distinction between business coach, consultant, freelancer, and agency. The article also helps you decide which type of professional you may need. It’s worth the read if you’re looking to run and grow a business.
I have read plenty of Alan Watts books and I find myself coming back to this book over and over again: The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are. Essentially, The Book is about the underlying cause of humanity’s violent misuse of technology and the war on nature. That cause is the belief that we are separate selfs, disconnected from nature, and in an alien universe. One of my favorite points that he argues is that everything outside of “me”, e.g., people, places, object, is just an extension of “my” body.
Real wealth
What is it? I explain real wealth here (micro.blog) and here (Instagram).
Take your shoes off and walk barefoot on the grass and leaves. Observe and feel the sole’s of your feet against the earth. Ground yourself to this earth. Real wealth is feeling your connection to the earth and knowing you belong.
